About Bristol Theatre Arts
Bristol Theatre Arts, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 theatrical and performing
arts group in Connecticut. Our goal is to stimulate, promote, teach, and
develop interest in the dramatic arts; to educate the general public in
the dramatic arts; to advance the general level of culture in the field
of dramatic arts by the production of plays, musicals, readings, dramas,
comedies, shows, and dramatic arts in all forms and of the highest standards.
Bristol Theatre Arts, Inc, began as Bristol Civic Theater in 1982. The
group evolved and reorganized into Bristol Theatre Arts, Inc. in
1998. BTA encourages participation from Bristol and surrounding communities.
Our past productions have included cast and crew members from both
sides of the Connecticut River including Bristol, Terryville, Burlington,
West Hartford, Manchester, South Windsor, East Hartford, Farmington,
and Waterbury to name a few. BTA has produced at least one large-scale
musical per year since 1999. (see past productions page).
BTA is committed to developing an interest in the dramatic arts.
Over the years, BTA has sponsored play readings of both local and
well-known playwrights. BTA members play an active role in developing
the arts in Bristol by working in conjunction with the Bristol Council
of the Arts, Bristol Recreation Department, and the Bristol Downtown
Revitalization Project. BTA works closely with the Bristol Council
of the Arts to organize and perform in the annual “Arts
in the Park” in Rockwell Park each June. BTA members teach various
theater arts workshops sponsored by area schools and recreation departments.
BTA members are participating in a workshop at Timothy
Edwards Middle School in South Windsor. The school is hosting the "Minds
in Motion" program
on November 5, 2005 in collaboration with the Connecticut Association
for the Gifted and Manchester Community College. For more information,
contact us.
Currently, members of BTA are involved in the “Downtown Project” of
Bristol, which is dedicated to revitalizing Bristol with the development
of a Performing Arts Theatre and other facilities in Downtown Bristol.

As with all non-profit arts organizations, Bristol Theatre Arts, Inc.
must rely on the support of the public and private sectors. With the support
of local businesses, corporations, and public foundations, BTA continues
to grow and become a major cultural center for the region.
